Land for Life Conducts Joint Monitoring with Ministry of Agriculture Across Four Districts

Land for Life Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has conducted a joint monitoring exercise across four operational districts—Port Loko, Tonkolili, Kenema and Pujehun—to assess the progress and impact of its interventions supporting food security and sustainable agricultural production. The exercise provided an opportunity for the joint team to assess activities on the ground, identify emerging challenges, and document lessons to strengthen programme implementation.
During the monitoring exercise, the team visited selected project communities and interacted with members of the District Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (DMSPs) as well as project participants at community level. The engagements provided valuable insights into the implementation of Community Action Groups (CAGs) and communal farming activities, including community participation, agricultural production, access to land, and challenges faced by farmers. Discussions also highlighted the important role of the DMSPs in supporting local coordination, addressing land-related challenges, and creating an enabling environment for communities to engage in agricultural activities.
The joint monitoring further strengthened collaboration between Land for Life and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, while providing an opportunity to hear directly from beneficiaries and local stakeholders about the progress and challenges of the interventions. The findings and lessons gathered from Port Loko, Tonkolili, Kenema and Pujehun will help inform future programming, strengthen community-based food security initiatives, and improve coordination among stakeholders. Land for Life remains committed to working with government institutions, DMSPs, communities and other partners to promote inclusive land governance and contribute to improved food security and resilient livelihoods across Sierra Leone.
