Five-Day DMSP Capacity-Strengthening Training Concludes in Kenema
The five-day capacity-strengthening training for District Multi-Stakeholder Platforms (DMSPs), which commenced in Port Loko on 24 August 2026, successfully concluded on 28 August 2026 in Kenema District.
The training brought together DMSP members and key land governance stakeholders to deepen their understanding of the roles, responsibilities and functions of DMSPs, strengthen coordination and collaboration, and identify practical approaches for addressing land-related challenges within their respective districts.
A key component of the training was the review of the Draft Code of Ethics, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Paralegal Manual. Participants actively engaged with the draft documents and provided valuable inputs, observations and recommendations aimed at ensuring that they are practical, relevant and responsive to the realities of land governance and community-level engagement.
The sessions also provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the challenges affecting land governance in their districts and explore practical solutions that can strengthen collaboration between communities, local councils, traditional authorities, civil society organisations, land governance institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
Beyond knowledge-sharing, the training encouraged DMSP members to translate learning into concrete actions that can contribute to more effective coordination, improved accountability and stronger community participation in land governance.
The successful completion of the training marks another important step towards strengthening the capacity of DMSPs to serve as effective platforms for inclusive, transparent, participatory and peaceful land governance across Sierra Leone.
The knowledge, recommendations and practical actions emerging from the training are expected to inform ongoing DMSP engagement and contribute to stronger land governance outcomes at district and community levels.
